The Music Theory Flip Book, Vol. I is a little quiz book for first and second year piano students. It's designed for a parent to "flip" through periodically with their child. Find it at the top of the "Exercises" page by clicking the button on the left.
"The Power of Habit" is a useful new book by New York Times reporter Charles Duhigg. The book explores the scientific research around how habits are formed and rule how we do things. As I read this book, I quickly realized that learning and performing a piece of music matches very closely the mechanics of habit formation. Reading the book has informed how I practice and given me new ideas about how to teach "practicing".
